A trip to Israel is incomplete without a visit to Jerusalem because
firstly, it is celebrated as the holy city and secondly, it is capital of
the country. The Old City in Jerusalem is a place of huge importance
for three religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. For Christians, it
is a place where Jesus died, was buried and rose. However, the city also
has a modern side that is full of restaurants, cafes and cultural life.
Dead Sea is a landlocked salt lake between Israel and Jordan in southwestern Asia. Its eastern shore belongs to Jordan, and the southern half of its western shore belongs to Israel. The northern half of the western shore lies within the Palestinian West Bank and has been under Israeli occupation since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. The Jordan River, from which the Dead Sea receives nearly all its water.
Petra, an ancient city, the central Arab kingdom in Hellenistic and Roman times, the ruins of which are in southwest Jordan. The city was built on a terrace, pierced from east to west by the Wadi Mūsā (the Valley of Moses)—one of the places where, according to tradition, the Israelite leader Moses struck a rock and water gushed forth. Petra is famous for its unique rock-cut structures.
